TEACHER GUIDE

Those books are the product of the pilot project "Troubleshooting on Mechatronic Systems" in a framework of the European Commission Leonardo da Vinci Program. Them has been written by project partners from four countries: Twente Plus College, the Netherlands, Turku Vocational Institute, Finland, Riga Technical College, Latvia, Vilnius College, Lithuania and Institute of Automatics and Control Technologies at Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania. Festo SIA, Latvia has coordinated the project with the assistance of Festo UAB, Lithuania. The books are published in all languages of project partners and English.

Textbook:

"MECHATRONICS 1" book consists of 7 chapters:

  1. Mechanics and mechanical components of mechatronic systems;
  2. Electronic components and sensors;
  3. Actuators;
  4. Control engineering principles;
  5. PLC technology;
  6. Information technology;
  7. Troublechooting.

This book is an attempt to combine most commonly used knowledge about the interaction of diverse technologies. It was created having in mind that people who will read this book are going to take a troubleshooting in mechatronics system qualification evaluation test. Therefore it has separate parts for the separate technologies. Those parts where created having in mind troubleshooting of complex machinery. So one can find how to find mechanical fault or electronic fault in separate parts of the book. But general analytic procedure is given at the end of the book (chapter 7).

Exercise book:

"MECHATRONICS 2" book is divided in three parts attached to the different media of mechatronic systems:

  1. Electrical engineering tasks solution;
  2. The elements of PLC programming technology;
  3. Thee mechanical computer aided design practice elements.

This book is designed and realised as a complement of the textbook "MECHATRONICS 1". In this book materials concerning mechatronics subject are presented using different method. This book is destined for the practical experience and skill development needful in such systems design, commissioning phases, indispensable when it is necessary to eliminate occurred malfunctions on the system. The material in this book is given in the exercises and practical task form. The short theoretical explanations and specific exercise solutions should help for good understanding of presented material.

Teacher guide:

"TEACHER GUIDE" book consists of 5 chapters:

  1. Troubleshooting;
  2. Professional competence. Description;
  3. Technical competence;
  4. Social competence and teamwork;
  5. Exercises on the development of teamwork and troubleshooting.

This book is destined to help the teacher to design the teaching and training programs in mechatronics field in correspondence with input knowledge level and desired output level of the students. It corresponds also with problem of development technical and social competence of the specialist.
