Project description

The project is aimed in development of test that will let evaluate knowledge level of students at every step of vocational education and industry workers. In order to help people to achieve good results textbook and other study material is developed. The mechatronic systems has emerged from the technological development of complex devices. The production of such devices encompass usage of different technolgies. In general there are three main technologies – mechanical, electronic and information technologies. This technological fusion is Knowledge Driven Motion. Vocational education in mechatronics should forster acquirement knowledge and skills to assemble maintain and troubleshoot the system that involves different technolgies. Traditional education usually involved development of skills in only certain technology. This is no longer possible in fast changing technological environment because industry requires fast and efficient work of complex equipment. This challenges new and already working employees. The project strives to give a guidance for seeking persons. Developed test will give recommendations to the person for selfguided education using the prepared textbooks. Main emphasize is given to analitical troubleshooting of different possible faults that occur in industry. Project team believes that effective troubleshooting of mechatronic systems is not only usage of technical competencies of workers but also a social conversation between them. Because of the level and diversity of used technologies. Effective troubleshooting is derivative of technical education and interpersonal communication skills of the working people.

Project results

During the project there was developed learning system for mechatronics including evaluation of aquired knowledge. Learning system consists of printed textbooks and exercise books in Finnish, Latvian, Lithuanian and Dutch languages, CD rom containing the textbook in English language and many additional information regarding education in mechatronics. Software program for testing one's knowlege at certain level. Knowledge level definition was also developed (adopted) based on existing education systems. Test program structure was developed according developed test structure.

All additional information and CD roms and books are available upon request from project coordinator, contractor or other local member. Test software program is available for download.

Project coordinator Festo UAB is encouraging to expand knowledge database with new questions that could be added to the software program and is inviting qualified experts to send their questions. Qualified persons (school teachers) are able to receive information for administration of software program (change number of questions, manage users, etc.)
